A Cloud of Witnesses

Prison bars can't stop the good news from coming in – or going out.

Have you ever been to a prayer meeting or retreat where people were invited to "give a witness"—to share with the group about what God is doing in their lives? If you have, you know what a privilege it is to catch these glimpses of God's tender and creative love.

Over the past months, we feel as if we ourselves have been surrounded by a great “cloud of witnesses” in the mail we have been receiving (Hebrews 12:1). It comes in response to a survey sent to four hundred of the men and women who receive The Word Among Us through our outreach to prisoners. “The Holy Spirit is using the magazine to bring hope and new life to people behind bars,” says Angela Burrin, who directs Partners in Evangelism’s prison program. “It’s exciting to read their stories!” Here’s a sampling:
