A Thorough Transformation

In the opening of his Letter to the Colossians, Paul hinted that the first step in our walk of faith is to enter into the presence of the Lord through the power of the Holy Spirit (Colossians 1:9-12). Paul knew that this was the only way the Colossians would find the transformation that Jesus wanted to give them. In this article, we want to identify some of the ways we can expect to be changed by coming to God this way and seeking the power of his revelation.

Spiritual Knowledge.

“We have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding” so that you will “grow in the knowledge of God.” (Colossians 1:9,10)

If you want to enter into the Lord’s presence, then by all means take the time to learn more about Jesus. Find out everything you can about the one you are seeking in prayer. Read and study the Scriptures. Listen to talks or read books that help you to pray. Learn about your faith by studying the Catechism or reading about the lives of the saints. Develop a year-long plan for study and reading—something that will help you develop a “database” of knowledge that can become the foundation for your whole life.
