"Prepare the way of the Lord! (Mark 1:3)" With these words, John the Baptist called the people of Israel to examine their hearts and repent of their sin.
John knew that the Messiah was coming, and he wanted everyone to be ready to receive him into their hearts.
The whole season of Advent is one long call from John the Baptist: Jesus is coming, so get ready for him! Go to confession so that you can get rid of the obstacles of sin that keep you from receiving God’s love!
The following examination of conscience is meant to help you prepare for confession. Take some time pondering these questions and asking the Holy Spirit to shine his light into your heart. Let him show you where you need to be set free so that you can rejoice with the angels on Christmas Day.
Lord Jesus, you showed us how to love God “with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength” (Mark12:30).
