Five Ways to Stay Connected across the Miles
- Choose an editor (or team) and start a family newsletter to share online or by regular mail. Possible entries: family news, recipes, photos, interviews, jokes, contests, important dates, prayer requests.
- Add variety to your “care packages.” Include favorite homemade foods (with recipes), stories from hometown newspapers, kids’ artwork, photos, books you’ve read and enjoyed. For a younger child, read a book onto a CD or tape, and send both. Encourage all family members to contribute items by labeling a collection box (“For Grandpa”) and putting it in a central location.
- Internet users: Create a family Web page to share news and photos of daily life and special events—Baptisms and First Communions, birthday parties, athletic events, spelling bees, and science projects (for help and ideas, try www.myfamily.com, or one of the many free online photo services). If…
