There are many different ways we can receive the revelation of Jesus, the Word of God, this Advent. We can take time to sit before a manger scene and ponder the night when Christ was born. We can enjoy the blessings of family and friends. We can try to attend Mass more frequently. We can go to a Christmas concert at our parish or in the community.

So many opportunities exist for us to let God’s love fill our hearts. But one of the most powerful ways we can experience the Lord is through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. There, in the presence of Jesus, we can acknowledge our sins and weaknesses and come in touch with a love that never fails, a love that always forgives and restores. Even when we think God could not possibly forgive us, he surprises us—not only with words of pardon but with the promise to shower us with his grace and kindness.
