When I was growing up in Catholic grade school, I was often getting into some sort of trouble.
I received the “Board of Education,” as it was called, on a number of occasions—but it didn’t hurt too much. Sometimes I received it because I was just plain disobedient and disrespectful. Other times it was because a group of us did something deceptive like saying we were going home for lunch but then went to the local store for some junk food. We just couldn’t handle that cafeteria food!
On a number of these occasions some of my friends dared me to do it. They would repeatedly say, “Don’t be a chicken” or “We’ll never get caught” or “There’s nothing wrong with it.” And I happily went along.
