What "good" does the word of God do for us?

At the recent Synod on the Word of God, the bishops talked about the many ways that God speaks to his people—the ways that his “word” goes forth into creation. As we have seen, the primary focus of the bishops was on the Bible as the word of God.

But even here, an important point needs to be made: The Bible exists not just to tell us what God has already said. It exists so that we can hear him speaking to us today as well. We tend to think of the word of God as a gathering of pages with words on them, conveying information and direction for our lives. But the word of God is so much richer than that. Because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Scriptures are living and active (Hebrews 4:12). They are not just the word of God but one of the primary ways for the voice of God to be spoken and heard.

In this article, we want to look at other ways that God’s voice is active in the world, ways that his word is going out, looking…

The word ,in my experience, is the dawning on my consciousness the esoterics of the chaplet of Divine Mercy, while I was saying it repeatedly during a heavy rainfall on 09052009 which threaten to flood my place. The rain stopped abruptly in 4mins 30 sec.It felt like the Lord Himself came down and stopped the rain

Ah, yes, as in Letter to the Hebrews, the word is sharper than a two- edged sword..it is a unique set of Spirit, authored by God, but written by humans under God’s spiritual impact, and indeed “cuts” into our neural synaptic clefts, shaping, drawing, luring, and changingus from the very inside wheer it really counts.  We know today that our brains locate where our “hearts” reside and consists of an unimaginably complex set of inter-synaptic neurotransmittors and complex neural circuirtry. What goes on in there are logic, reasonings, imaginations, memories, passions, sense perception, and faith!  What is relevant to this article comment is ( unless you are a modern physical reductionist) all this “heart activity” is truly an inexplicable phenomenon, not explainable inor reducible to the language of neurotransmittors and neural circuits. It is a unique entity called “spirit.” Human spirit consists in certain human actions that have the spiritual capacity to influence the spirit of another human being. We do it everyday, all day! Facial expression, voice inflection, the written word in its many forms, art, music,...myriads of ways. This greatly impacts our neural circuitry, our hearts, our spirit.  Now God-as-Spirit has engaged the human race in a unique and powerful spirit activity called Scripture whose words are adapted to move our spirits salvifically, just not move, but in a word “save” us! That is what scripture does.
