Your face, Lord, do I seek! Do not hide your face from me! (Psalm 27:8-9) Let me see your face. (Psalm 17:15) When can I go and see the face of God? (Psalm 42:3)
Have you ever noticed how many of the psalms talk about seeing God’s face? What did the writers mean when they made this impassioned plea? After all, can any of us really expect to see the face of God?
When I started asking myself this question in my own search to meet God, it launched me on a journey of discovery that continues to surprise, delight, and bring blessings
Show Me Your Face! My journey to see God’s face began some twenty years ago, when I was a teenager living in the “Ukrainian Village” neighborhood of Chicago’s North Side. As I visited Roman Catholic churches, I noticed that the pictures and statues of Jesus made him look rather like the people in the pews.
