Defining moments. We’ve all had them in our lives. Perhaps it was a time when you had to make a major decision—career or marriage or vocation—that affected the rest of your life. Perhaps it was a challenging situation that required you to grow up very quickly—like the premature death of a parent or an unintended pregnancy.

Maybe it was a moment of conversion, when you made a definitive break with some pattern of sin and stepped into a new experience of freedom in the Lord. Whatever the situation, these defining moments act as keys that help unlock the mystery of who you are, of the kind of person you have become.

A Man of Passion. For St. Ignatius of Loyola, one of his defining moments came during the Battle of Pamplona, when a cannonball shattered his leg. It was during his long and painful convalescence at his family’s home that Ignatius began to be drawn to the Lord. He decided that rather than chasing military glory and worldly honor, he would become a soldier in heaven’s army, chasing after spiritual conquests instead.

    We don’t have to go through all the rigors that Ignatius subjected himself to in order to come to know him. We just have to learn the art of loving him and receiving his love in our hearts.
    what more can anyone add to such explicit statement
