Suddenly a light from heaven flashed about him. And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" (Acts 9:3-4)

What an extraordinary turn of events! In Jerusalem, Saul had murder in his heart for Christians. Yet, by the time he arrived in Damascus, he was ready to become one of the boldest and most zealous Christians the world has known.
What caused such a transformation? It was nothing less than a dramatic encounter with the risen Lord Jesus. As Saul was on the road toward Damascus, the glory of the Lord flashed about him like a blinding light and struck him to the ground. Then Jesus personally spoke to Saul in such a way that he would never be the same again. Many times my way of living as a christian is out of convenience. It’s easy to identify myself to Jesus through a ritual, through a symbol, through a gathering, through an exceptional event, etc..My way of being a selective christian is not really rooted to the firm foundation of a roman catholic each but out of my necessity.
Reflecting to events of the conversion of Saul, I’m empowered by the grace of God to deepen the roots of my faith not to the peripheral expression but to the very person of Jesus Christ. He is the power who could energize my faith. He could transform my brokenness to wholeness without any doubts. I just let Jesus do what He wants from me so as to empower me to be a radical witness of Him.
