More than anything else, women want to be understood. We want to be known, not superficially, but on the deepest levels, through a meaningful and intimate embrace and acceptance of our hearts. These longings are essentially feminine, borne out of our sensitive natures and our intuitive impulses to seek what is whole and not dissect something into its parts. Women are infinitely and miraculously more than the sum of our parts, and we desire to be known and understood in this way.

These longings, when purified, nourish and nurture life. They lead us to be concerned with the dignity of the whole person, to look beyond what is seen to the unseen essence of others. However, when these longings are not purified, they get distorted and can lead us into disappointment and pain. Such was the case with the woman…
