Today is a day for all the children of God to sing for joy. Christ, our Savior, is born today in a humble stable.
It’s a day to look beyond the star-filled night and humble surroundings of his birth. It’s a day to linger only briefly on the gentle and quiet setting. There is more here than a tender picture of happiness, more than a sweet newborn surrounded by his loving mother and protective father.
Today is a day to lift our eyes to the heavens and to see and believe in the unseen and the incredible. It’s a day to see in Jesus the one promised to our fallen parents, the descendant of Eve who will crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15). This is the King whose reign will be without end. This is Jesus, the only begotten Son of God.
Fallen angels and enemies of truth, tremble today, for your defeat is at hand! The Son comes to avenge his Father’s honor! He will free all those held captive by your chains and end the reign of sin and death on earth.
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14). We have received the greatest of gifts. How can we ever thank the Lord?
By humbling ourselves before the manger. By welcoming Jesus into our hearts as Mary did, with a love that submits to God completely.
Rise up, O sons and daughters of the King! Rejoice in your heritage! Celebrate with songs of praise and thanksgiving. Honor the exalted King who came in humility but will return with glory and power.
He is coming to judge the earth! Make yourselves ready! Open your heart to allow him to rule in you. Pray for the gifts of the Spirit. Act boldly to fulfill the calling he has given to you. Behold, the kingdom of God is upon you!
O Word of God, you lowered yourself to ransom us, to fill us with wisdom, and to give us life eternal. All praise, thanks, glory, and honor be to you, our perfect God
