I grew up in a big family, with grandparents and cousins nearby. Life was a round of family visits and gatherings, with twenty people jammed around the table for holidays. Then my husband and I moved away to a big city where I hardly knew a soul. I was terribly homesick and missed my family desperately. But at least, I still had “Days of Our Lives”!

Growing up, I had watched this soap opera with my mom. I continued our tradition while I was in college, then after I was married and had my first two children. After eighteen years of faithful viewing, I felt like I knew everyone on the show. The characters had become like a second family to me. I cried with them and laughed with them (well, mostly cried).

After our move, I looked forward to my program even more, planning around it so that my two little boys and I could sit down and watch it as we ate lunch every day.

Then one evening, I went to a class at church that changed all that.
