Francis of Assisi sought to serve God in all matters. To do so required action, not just words.
Opening prayer: God, send me holy courage to respond to people in pain, to take action in time of crisis, to restore the church where it is crumbling, to affect a world in need, to be a living, breathing, active instrument of God’s peace.
About Francis
Francis wanted his followers to be in the marketplace, in the streets, and in the towns. Indeed, he wanted his followers to be in the thick of things, building bridges to God. This story, “Sultan Malik-al-Kamil,” shows Francis to be a person of fearless action.
