What could be a greater honor than having a conversation with Almighty God, the Creator of everything that exists? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to know what is in his heart and to understand his intentions and desires? As the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council pointed out, we have this opportunity every time we open the Bible. Scripture is not simply a collection of words to be read, however wise or moving these words may be. Scripture is the word of God—his voice speaking intimately to us, refreshing us and teaching us. In scripture, God opens his heart and shares his thoughts with his children, bestowing on them a high dignity as he forms them after his very own likeness.
