Work, household chores, church commitments, school projects, and sports practices! How many days do you fall into bed feeling as if you were in motion all day without a moment to take a deep breath? Unfortunately, for many people, the sensation of being forcefully spun around in a daily whirlpool is all too commonplace.

When we find ourselves in a constant flurry of activity, there is one critical question we can ask ourselves: When I’m older, will I have regrets about the choices I am making now in how I spend my time? Facing this question realistically can help us achieve a clearer understanding of what our priorities should be. This process, in turn, will help us learn how to balance the many responsibilities and activities in our lives.

For example, we may recognize that we’re expending an inordinate amount of energy attempting to earn a promotion at the expense of nurturing important relationships in our lives, particularly with God and our family. What deep regret we and our children would have if we missed the opportunities to bless our families with our time, love, and talents!
