"And live in love, as Christ loved us." —Ephesians 5:2

Love is always a choice, a decision to be made. Sometimes we are called to choose love in the face of great adversity, persecution, confusion, or pain. At other times, we are called to love through the barren stretches, when our hearts are devoid of emotion or affection. Yet in every case, when we make the decision to love “against all odds,” we unleash the power of God in a real and transforming way—not just for those we love, but for ourselves, as well.

When we are open and obedient to the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives, God’s love pours into us. It fills us and overflows from us to others. As Catholics, we know that each time we receive Christ in the Eucharist, we say yes to God’s love and give God permission to use us…
